St. Xavier’s Academy; a seemingly peaceful little school located in Oregon. For the past few months, it has been free of attacks from Strigoi, lulling the students into a sense of peace as they gradually focus toward graduating, and actually getting out into the world. Unknown to them though, things are about to change, faster than anyone ever imagined.

They always say that “they come first.” You know the Guardian motto and all that stuff. Why should they always get to come first though? Don’t the Dhampirs have just as many rights as the Moroi they have to protect? This is the way it has been for countless years though, the Dhampirs defending the Moroi against the evil Strigoi, countless falling to protect their defenseless charges. In ancient times, the Moroi fought alongside the Dhampirs though, making them an even more effective team, but those ways have been long forgotten, left only to be argued about by the Royals who had nothing better to do. Everything is at a standstill…politically of course.

One man though, a Dhampir who never wanted to become a Guardian, is starting to stir things up though. Speaking to the students, he tells the Dhampirs about what they should be like, as well as the Moroi. Normally, the Headmaster would have stopped such words, but due to recent illness, he has been unable to halt Adrian’s words. All around campus, things are starting to change, as Dhampirs either side with Adrian or go against him. Some want to have their Moroi counterparts learn how to fight for themselves, wants them to join the battle, to become just like the Dhampirs in a way. Others though, feel as though violence is not the way to go for the Moroi, and are reminded of just how powerful the Strigoi are. They are lulled into a false security due to the lack of attacks on the academy.

Little do they know about the danger lurking just beyond the school gates…waiting for them.

It’s time to pick your side: do you stand with Adrian, who wants the Moroi to become “less pathetic and more worth the lives they cost” or do you stand with those who think the Moroi should be kept away from the fighting and their Strigoi counterparts?
